Good morning, everyone! Welcome to day 2 of my 4 days of Christmas 🙂 As promised, I have 2 more cards to share with you today. Let’s hop right in…here’s the first card I have to share:
For this card, I started with a black 5″ x 7″ card base, and double matted it. I distressed the edges of both the “wallpaper” and the kraft mat, and inked the edges of the kraft mat using Gathered Twigs Distress Ink direct from the ink pad.
I used Paper Trey Ink stamps for the sentiment, which I embossed in fine white embossing powder. Can I just stop for a moment and say here how much I LOVE Paper Trey Ink sentiment stamps? I love everything about them…I love the design, the fonts, the versatility, and they are the best clear stamps I have ever used. Sheesh, you’d think I endorse the company…lol.
Moving on…I used a Spellbinders Labels 45 die to cut out the sentiment, and matted the die cut using kraft cardstock. I did have to fussy cut around the label to create the mat. Along the bottom of the label, I added a border that was cut from bronze glitter paper using the border die from the Spellbinders Holly Accents die set.
In the center of the border along the bottom of the sentiment, I layered some Christmas “greenery” cut from a variety of different colors of cardstock using the Tim Holtz Festive Greenery decorative strip die. I then layered a couple of copper filigree flowers on the greenery and added an SS30 Clear Flat Back Crystal Rhinestone to the center. These metal flowers I lucked into in one of my shipments. I love them, but I have searched high and low and have had absolutely no luck on finding them to add to the shop 🙁
To finish the card off, I added a Copper Corner Metal Filigree Embellishment (#807-C) to the upper right had corner of the card and a few SS12, SS16 and SS20 Jet Flat Back Glass Rhinestones along the sides of the card front. Finally, I added a few tears and curled corners to add even more dimension to this card.
Here’s the second card I have to share today:
This is definitely one of my favorites of the lot of cards I created this year. Its dimensions are also 5″ x 7″. I love the look of distressing the edges of my matting, and I certainly didn’t hold back on this card either. I also distressed the ivory mat using Gathered Twigs Distress Ink. I then added a vertical burlap belly band toward the left hand side of the card and layered a die cut from music sheet cardstock using a Spellbinders Labels 22 die.
I used more Paper Trey Ink stamps for the sentiment on this card and die cut it out using the Spellbinders Labels 28 die. I then used kraft cardstock, which had to be fussy cut, to mat the sentiment. I chose to frame the sentiment a little differently, using two Silver Metal Filigree Embellishments (#810-P) that peeked out on four corners around the sentiment.
On the upper left hand side of the sentiment, I layered more Festive Greenery die cuts, a Small Glass Snowflake Cabochon and a twine bow. Finally, I finished the card by adding some SS12 and SS16 Clear AB Flat Back Crystal Rhinestones in the corner of the card front, and the two labels.
I hope you liked the cards today, and thank you for stopping by 🙂 I shall see you tomorrow to share more eye candy…cheers!
