Altered Letter “M”…as in Monica

Hello again, everyone!  Are you guys pumped about the challenge yet?  I am, and can’t wait to see what everyone creates 🙂  This evening, though…I have a gorgeous project completed by design team member Monica Roca to share with you.

Today, Monica chose to alter a letter “M” she picked up from her local craft store.  She started creating the base by adhering some chipboard pieces and ButterBeeScraps metal embellishments to the “M”, including Bronze Metal Filigree Embellishment (#553-B), Medium Mixed Silver, Bronze and Copper Gears, Bronze Metal Filigree Embellishment (#676-B) and an Antique Bronze Drawer Pull (#HD098-B).

Monica then added some texture paste to the letter using her stencils.  Once the paste was dry, she added a layer of gesso to seal her project, followed by a layer of black acrylic paint.  Monica then used Platinum colored Inka Gold to bring out the texture, and added Old Silver and Brown Gold on the gears.

Once the base was completed, Monica added a variety of embellishments onto the letter.  In the upper left hand corner, she added a Bronze Corner Metal Filigree Embellishment (#730-B), a cluster of mulberry paper flowers, a Miniature Bronze Gear, and a charm from the “Creative Clocks” Tibetan Charm Collection.  She also added a Bronze Filigree Bead Cap (#CAP269-B) and an SS30 Clear Flat Back Crystal Rhinestone to the center of the largest flower.

In the upper right hand corner of the letter, Monica added a small paper flower and cut two petals from a Bronze Flower Metal Filigree Embellishment (#067-B) to create the leaves.  She then draped some bronze cable chain from her stash from the gear down to the center of the letter and down to the lower left hand corner of the letter.  Monica also hung a Bronze Tibetan Style Connector (#J288-B) from the center drawer pull, and added some SS10 Clear Pointy Back Crystal Rhinestones to the connector.

Monica finished the lower right hand corner of the “M” similar to the upper left and added a cluster of mulberry paper flowers with more petals from a Bronze Flower Metal Filigree Embellishment (#067-B) and a Miniature Bronze Gear.  She then added another Bronze Filigree Bead Cap (#CAP269-B) and SS30 Clear Flat Back Crystal Rhinestone to the center of the largest flower.  Finally, Monica added a smattering of SS8, SS10, SS12 and SS16 Clear Flat Back Glass Rhinestones to the centers of gears and the corners of the letter.

Whew…that was alot to describe and included alot of product!  Thanks for hanging in there with me…I hope you like this project as much as I do.  Please let me know if you do in the comments below 🙂  If you’re interested, you can also watch Monica’s YouTube video where you can catch a closer look at all the bits and pieces on this project.
