Hey there! New Mexico is finally experiencing a peak of springtime, with a bit of warmer weather. The trees are trying to wake out of their slumber as I see tiny buds opening up towards the sun. I love springtime because that means summer is around the bend!
Over the winter, Paul’s mobile phone finally died and he bought a new one and as he was unpacking it I kept looking at the box. I tell you, mobile phone companies spare no expense when it comes to their packaging. I just could not throw the box away. So… why not alter it and give it a new purpose. Now this little box will hold little odds and ends and keep my desk a bit tidier -well one can only hope :0)
Here are a few pictures to serve as a walkthrough and the embellishments I used.
The box before it’s transformation:
The tranformation begins:
I chose a color theme, and started by adding paper to the inside of the box. Unfortunately, some of my measurements on the inside of the box were off a wee bit so I covered my “oopsies” with a bit of washi tape.
After the inside of the box was completed I added the papers to the outside of the box, antiqued the entire box, and finished it off with embellishments.
Embellishments used:
- Metal Bookplate Drawer Pull (front of box), #HD587-B
- Vintage Crochet Doily (used the center of doily), Tracy
- Bronze Flower Filigree (large flower), #022-B
- Flower Metal Filigree (small flower), #025-C
- Octagon Glass Pendant (flower center), #GL1212-AB
- Bronze Metal Filigree (leaves), #592-B
- Grey Round Glass Beads (box feet), #BD026-GY
Before and After:
Hope you enjoyed the little walkthrough. I would love to hear how you have altered household items or items that were headed for the trash but were rescued and transformed into something beautiful!
Happy Creating!
