Tutorial of the Week: Graphic 45 “Cityscapes” Travel Wallet Folio

Good morning, everyone!  It is time for another tutorial, and I’m pretty sure you’re going to be stoked about this one…I know I’m totally excited about it!  With Christmas approaching at warp speed, I figured it would be nice to offer something quick, easy and fun to build that would make a great Christmas gift for pretty much anyone on your list.  What I came up with was this compact wallet sized folio:

I used Graphic 45’s “Cityscapes” paper collection to decorate this folio…you really can’t go wrong with Graphic 45!  The overall dimensions of this beauty are 5″ x 7″, and the covers and spine are made from chipboard to make it extra sturdy.  Inside, there are several tags all perfectly sized to accept standard 4″ x 6″ and 3″ x 4″ photos, a folder for holding memorabilia, and a small journal to write in.  I even included a place to put a pen 🙂  Here’s a look under the cover of the folio:

I did keep the embellishments simple because I didn’t want to add too much bulk…that will happen when photos are added 😉  I did end up using several small bronze corner filigrees (#730-B) to spiff it up a bit.  Seriously…can you ever see me making anything that doesn’t contain metal?  The only embellishment I added to the folio aside from on the cover and metal corners was to the center of the folder front.  Here’s a really close look at it:

I started by gluing a piece of ivory crocheted ribbon onto the front of the folder.  I then layered two bronze filigrees (#980-B) and a chipboard element from the paper collection.  Flipping the center folder down reveals several more tags and a hidden pocket that holds the journal:

Enough blah, blah, blah…let’s get into the nitty gritty, roll up our sleeves and build one of these puppies.  Here’s a video to show you just how to do that:

To make your life a little easier, I even created a little “cheat sheet” that you can print out so that you have the dimensions of all the pieces you need at your fingertips:

Well, I hope you’re as excited about this week’s tutorial as I am!  Thank you so much for popping in today 🙂  Cheers!
