Good morning, everyone! Are you ready for week 3 of our mini album tutorial series? (yes… please say yes…) You remember all those ivory and kraft colored journalling spots and picture mats we left alone last week? Well, this week we are going to learn a couple of easy but fun techniques to jazz those up so we can finish our tags…plus I cram some more design theory down your throat…lol. Instructions
As mentioned above, this week we’ll be having some fun learning a couple of new techniques 🙂 On the ivory journalling spots, we do some background stamping then use Tim Holtz’s “Perfect Distress” technique that will make anyone looking at your album go “Wow!”
I opted to keep the picture mats a little simpler, and show you what I often do to jazz them up a bit. We’ll start with heat embossing a couple of decorative embellishments around the edges, and add a bit of background stamping…with a bit of a twist to make it look more distressed;)
As with the last 2 weeks, I recorded another video for your viewing…pleasure? I hope so, anyway! …and since I like to make things as easy as possible, I’m embedding it here for you again 🙂
Measurements
Throughout the week, I had been doing a bit of thinking about those little folder tags on the first page and decided that we’d turn them into small signatures 🙂 So…for each of the 3 folders you will need to:
- cut 2 pieces of 5¼” x 8¼” pieces of ivory cardstock,
- score them at 4-1/8″ and fold them in half,
- poke holes along the fold 1¾” on either side of center.
Well, that’s it for this week…enjoy finishing off those tags this week. Next week, we are going to start working with some metal and embellishing those pages…I promise! Thanks for popping by this week. Cheers!
